I spoke too soon. After six days of testing negative for Covid, after five days of feeling sick but progressively improving, I thought I was off the hook. Other than tiring easily, I felt fine.
I thought wrong. This morning I tested positive.
I don’t know what to think. I feel fine, though I wear out quickly. My cough is almost gone. I’ve sneezed a couple of times, but otherwise the congestion is cleared up. I had a bit of a headache earlier. But that’s it. I don’t even have a fever, and never did—and fever is the one symptom everyone with omicron seems to have.
It will be interesting to see whether I develop any further symptoms (though I certainly hope not!). Otherwise, I may be a victim who recovered from covid the day before she got it.
Good thing too. The hospitals are overwhelmed. The meds that are effective against omicron are in very short supply. I think I told you Saturday that the urgent care doc told me pretty much nobody was getting treatment other than transplant patients. People are dying because the meds aren’t available. Heartbreaking.
Unless they’re fully vaccinated and boosted, that is. People who are fully vaccinated and boosted appear to bouncing back, at least relatively. And so far, that has certainly been our experience here.
